Study Life Balance for a Better Quality of Life
Students in higher learning institution may struggle to balance between studies and other life events. Either fulltime or part time students, may face some challenges in their learning journey. Managing schedules of study and other events well may lead to a healthy balance in life. When one gains healthy balance, this may lead to a better quality of life. There are psychological techniques that can be applied to gain a good balance. Practicing positive psychology and being mindful can be beneficial to gain better quality of life.
About the Speaker
Dr. Yasmin Othman Mydin
Dr. Yasmin Othman Mydin is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and a licensed psychology counsellor. She holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from USM, having been awarded a fellowship for her doctoral studies. Dr. Yasmin is a certified Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and has undergone specialized training at the Australia CBT Training Centre, approved by the Albert Ellis Institute in New York. She has extensive experience in both academia and clinical psychology, having served as a lecturer and counsellor at several universities, including USIM and UNIMAS. Additionally, she has provided psychotherapy services at institutions like Gleneagles Medical Centre and other hospitals. Dr. Yasmin’s research focuses on psychological therapy, particularly Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), with projects addressing mental health issues such as stress and insomnia. She has received several awards for her contributions, including the International Stress Management Professional award in 2018. Beyond her teaching responsibilities, she actively supervises postgraduate students, conducts workshops, and delivers talks at both national and international conferences. Dr. Yasmin is also a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and the American Psychological Association.
