About the Speaker

Major Dr. Mohd Ridzuan
bin M Shariff

Major Dr. Mohd Ridzuan was a career officer in the Malaysian Armed Forces for 28 years. Among the highlights of his military career was his involvement with the United Nations Protection Force (UNPROFOR) in Bosnia Herzegovina at the height of the Balkan War in 1995. Also, his involvement with the Malaysian Armed Forces humanitarian assistance in Aceh, Indonesia during the Tsunami in December 2004.

After retiring in 2010, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he was invited to give talks in Canada, Switzerland, Indonesia, Republic of Uzbekistan, Papua New Guinea and a few others. Furthermore, he had the opportunity to be involved and up close with behind-the-scenes negotiations following the disappearance of the MH370 flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in 2014.

A capable and highly accomplished Strategist and Crisis Management specialist with diverse experience in handling strategic and crisis situations for the past 15 years. Also, a capable speaker and lecturer/trainer with diverse experience with specialization in soft skill subjects such as Cyber Security Awareness, Crisis Management, Conflict Management, Strategic Analysis, Cross Cultural Communications and International Relations.

In July 2020, he left the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia and joined CyberSecurity Malaysia where he is involved in strategic planning to counter cyber threats and cyber-attacks.

Major Dr. Mohd Ridzuan obtained his Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Career-wise, currently he is now the Head, Strategic Research and Advisory Department, CyberSecurity Malaysia.
